Kinning is a mechanism I use to cope with my shaky mental state and self identity. It lets me know that despite how much I dislike myself I am still likable to others because people (along with myself) like these characters.
uhhh i'll also just say a few things that I REALLY like as my special interests: SNOWGLOBES, WATER FILLED TOYS (things with visible liquid in them ex: water mice, bubble timers, etc), OLD TECH (i've written A+ college essays about the development and advancement of the split between phone and tablet technology), VERY SPECIFIC 2000s to 2010s THINGS, Y2K FUTURISM, ANIMALS (MAMMALS, INSECTS, FISH, etc)
i have always loved these things and know too much from obsessively indulging in them since my youth.idk a lot of the things i've loved for YEARS get randomly popular out of nowhere? like i've basically been scene since I was 9 or 10. I've been avidly indulging in early 2000s 2010s aesthetics and media...since my childhood, but more thoughtfully in, like, 2016.While the term "special interest(s)" has definitely been carelessly thrown into the ever growing slew of words SPECIFICALLY pertaining to autism and/or ADHD that people use unjustifiably (because they're "trendy") I can ASSURE YOU that I am using it correctly for myself.
